US
To apply Chinese Travel visa, Chinese Embassy and Consulates require the following:
1.Passport: Your valid passport must have at least six (6) months of remaining validity with at least one blank visa page in it.
2.Application form: One completed Visa Application Form
3.Photo: one passport photo (black & white or color is acceptable) glued or stapled on the application form.
4.Non-US passport bearers shall provide documents that entitle them to reside or work for an extended period of time in the US.
5.An applicant who was born in China is required to submit his /her Chinese passport or last foreign passport with a Chinese visa when he/she applies for a Chinese visa with a new foreign passport.
6.Tourists to China shall provide round trip air tickets and hotel reservation.
7.Applicants visiting friends and family members shall provide round trip air tickets and certificates of kinship.
Note:
You may come to the Visa Office of the Embassy or Consulate – General in the consular jurisdiction in which you live to submit the application; or
If you cannot come personally, you may entrust someone else or a travel/visa agent to come to the visa office of the Embassy or Consulate -General in the consular jurisdiction in which you live for the application process.

UK
To apply Chinese Travel visa, Chinese Embassy and Consulates require the following:
A. applicants are required to submit the following documents:
A valid original passport. There must be blank visa pages in the passport. Pages for endorsements or amendments can not be used as a visa page. The passport should be valid for at least 6 months;
One completed Chinese Visa Application Form signed by the applicant. Children's application form can be signed by their parents or guardians;
One recent passport photograph affixed to the visa application form. Life photos, copied photos and digital photos printed on ordinary paper are not acceptable.
B. Additional documents:
A copy of Chinese hotel booking;
A copy of outward and return flight ticket booking;

Note:
Applicants should submit their applications in person or entrust a third party to submit their applications on their behalf to the visa office of Chinese Embassy in the UK or to Chinese Consulate-General in Manchester or Edinburgh.
Appointments are not required. Interviews may be required by the visa officer if necessary. Visa may be refused without detailed explanation.
Applications by post are not accepted.

Australia:
To apply Chinese Travel visa, you should provide the following documents:
One completed Visa Application Form with a passport photograph attached;
Your passport with at least 6-month validity and at least 2 blank visa pages.
Apply for the visa only 1 to 2months before your planned date to enter China.
People born in China must provide their names in Chinese characters to column "1" of the Visa Application Form.
Fill in every column of the Visa Application Form, using "N/A" if not applicable.
The supporting documents will not be returned once lodged with the application. If necessary, please make copy beforehand.
The "PICK UP FORM" you get when you lodge the application is the only proof for collection; when lost, only the passport holder himself with proper photo ID can retrieve his passport.
Please be aware that no modification will be accepted once the application is lodged.
Please pay for the visa on collection, and please pay in cash, bank cheque, money order or company cheque. The "payee" should be CHINESE EMBASSY.
From 15 April 2008, additional documents are required for Chinese Visa
please provide:
- One completed application form;
- Your passport;
- One recent colour passport photo;
- Return ticket;
- Proof of hotel reservation if you go for tourism;
- Proof of relations if you go to visit relatives and you were not born in China.

Canada
To apply Chinese Travel visa, Chinese Embassy and Consulates require the following:
An original passport must have at least six months of remaining validity with enough blank visa pages.
One complete Visa Application Form signed by the actual applicant. Applicants under the age of 18 whose Visa Application Form can be filled by their parents. For the Visa Application Form filled by travel agency, both the actual applicant's signature and the agency's seal must be seen on the form.
One recent 2X2 inches passport-size photo, color with white background, showing a full front view of the applicant's head and shoulders without head covering.
After the applicant enters China, if his/her actual length of stay is longer than the visa given, he/she must apply for extension of stay at the local public security bureau before his/her visa expires. The applicant will be fined or subjected to other penalties if he/she stays beyond the specified date.
Former Chinese citizen acquired foreign nationality who applies for a Chinese visa for the first time with a new foreign passport is required to submit his or her old Chinese passport (original and photocopy of front page and extension page) or show an original or a photocopy of his or her old foreign passport, or a photocopy of his or her former Chinese visa record.
A child of Chinese descent, born in a foreign country, applying for a Chinese visa for the first time is required to provide the child's birth certificate (with his/her parents names on it) as well as the valid foreign passport or permanent resident card (such as the Canadian "Permanent Resident Card" or the landing paper) of one of the parents.

The applicant must fill out the "Visa Application Form of the People's Republic of China" accurately, seriously, and carefully. The application for a visa may be declined or the trip may be delayed if the applicant fails to provide true and complete information, or if the writing is illegible. Therefore the applicant shall bear on his or her own responsibility. The consular officers will consider issuing visas in accordance with the Chinese laws and regulations. The consular officers are entitled to refuse an application or to alter or revoke an issued visa without disclosure of the reason.
